The new Alief Early Childhood Center is being built right next to our neighborhood on the northeast corner of Howell Sugarland Road and Bellaire. These along with a second facility located just north of Horn Elementary along the Boone Loop, will open in 2022. Currently, the district is looking to acquire property for a third location.
These childhood centers will not look like a traditional classroom setting. The Early Childhood Center will be innovative schools for pre-kindergarten children that takes learning beyond the four walls of the classroom.
These are unique designs; they definitely will not look like any of the other classroom buildings. Each of the centers will feature multiple learning areas as well indoor and outdoor play areas. The design will be done by PBK Architects on the facility on Howell Sugarland. This firm has experience with these non-traditional buildings and has provided invaluable advice on the construction.
